Govt. Relations Officer
Job Purpose:
To focus on fostering relationships and communication between company and various government entities. This includes navigating regulations, securing approvals/clearances, and representing the company’s interests in a positive manner. The role typically involves building relationships with key decision-makers & other influential people, staying informed on relevant policies, and advocating for the company’s interests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Forge good relationships with key people like senior Govt officials, key political personalities, local counsellors and other such influential people in Govt and industry.
- Facilitate various Govt clearances and approvals required for the setting up and operation of company’s plant and business & favourably influence Govt decisions.
- Provide key information to senior management on relevant Govt departments & Govt decisions which affect company’s business.
- Deal with Govt enquiries and provide information, advice and guidance to management on policies & regulations relating to Auto industry and other such relevant economic, commercial and geo political matters.
- Keep track of evolving Govt policies, procedures and legislations relating to the company’s business and keep the company management updated.
- Keep Management updated on key people changes in Govt & geo political environment which can have a bearing on company’s business.
- Keep management informed of relevant local and international developments which may have a political or operational impact on the company’s business and relation with the Government.
- Help in negotiations for specific activities such as local suppliers, localization, labor related and other areas such as customs etc.
- Assist senior management in dealing with the challenges posed by the political context and developments with the Government.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and ensure the company’s compliance with various regulatory requirements.
- Assist the Legal Head in co-ordinating with Courts, other such judicial authorities, external lawyers etc for effective conduct and follow up of litigations and other legal proceedings and requirements.
- Liaise with external partners and agencies including professional bodies, other private organisations, contractors etc., as and when required.
- Ensure the various reports/information presented to the Govt are duly verified and endorsed.
Qualification: Graduation in law / Business Management /Political Science / Social Science. Those with Graduation in Law preferred.
Age: around 45 years.
Other skills/knowledge:
- Ability to communicate well in in English/Arabic /French – both written & Oral.
- Excellent networking and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of commercial and labour law requirements in Algeria
- High level of professionalism
- Must be tactful, diplomatic and should communicate and get on effectively with people from different backgrounds.
Experience:
-
Potential candidate should have around 10 – 15 years experience in handling similar functions in large corporates.

Should hold good relations in the government to be able to influence and guide and get approvals/clearances.

Experience of working with relevant Govt departments is an advantage.

Experience in handling legal matters for corporates is desired.
